Love One Another

It doesn’t take a rocket scientist to realize that teenage girls are some of the most jealous people on the planet.  Whether it’s over a boy, your home-life, your clothes, or your friendship with someone else– there will ALWAYS be someone who is jealous of you.  Now, me being a teenage girl, this post is kinda hard for me considering that even I have jealousy issues– we all do.  I’m not talking about the type of jealousy that God has, I’m talking about the hatred-jealousy.  The Bible clearly states in 1 John 4:8 He that loveth not knoweth not God; for God is love.  I’m not saying that if you’re jealous of someone’s outfit that you don’t have Jesus in your heart; but I am saying that if your jealousy gets so strong to the point that you have hatred towards them, you need to focus on more important things in life.  Besides, that outfit will probably be out of style in a year {chuckles}.

Why should we be jealous of someone when we all have over a thousand things to be thankful for?  A roof over our head, a soft bed, shoes on our feet, clothes on our back, and the list goes on.  We as human beings always have the tendency to focus on the negative in life, but at the end of the day it is a choice for all of us to make.  We have to wake up every day and decide that we are going to have a positive outlook on life, that we will serve God wholly with our lives, and that we will love one another.  The Devil is always trying to get us to fall into His traps, making us feel dirty on the inside.  None of us are too good to sin, so we are all capable of falling into this horrible act.  Image

What are ways to keep away from this?  You might ask.  Well, first of all, what is our walk with the Lord like?  Do we read our Bible every day?  Do we pray at least three times a day {Psalms 55:17 KJV}?  Who do we associate ourselves with?  Girls, while I’m on this point.. reading our Bible every day means soaking ourselves in it.  We all have busy lives, but we should always find time to spend with the One who made time.  Praying every day doesn’t just mean over our meals.. it’s coming to Him with our burdens; but most importantly, our praises.  Associating ourselves with people who don’t serve God will always bring us down.. I’m sure we’ve all heard the illustration of how if you’re standing on a chair, it’d be easier to be brought down than to bring someone up.

Anyway, now that I’ve gotten that out, continuing on with the jealousy topic.. we need to pray daily and ask God to help up with this issue.  Saul was a very jealous man in the Bible, he even sought to kill David, a man who didn’t even do him any wrong.  Our jealousy is only hurting ourselves.  Do you think that person really cares that you’re jealous of them?  Nope– they couldn’t care less.  Just let it go, focus on the good in your life.  We all have something that someone else doesn’t have.  What we take for granted, someone else is praying for.

We will have the curse of sin until we are in the presence of our King, but we should always put forth the effort to change our wicked ways.  What’s holding you back from letting go of your jealousy?  There should be nothing holding you back from making the right choice.  Change your jealous ways today, you’ll feel like weights have been lifted from your shoulders, and I can assure you that your walk with God will get much stronger.
